Fay Elizabeth (White) Meier

HITCHCOCK – Mrs. Fay Meier, 96, passed from this life on Sunday, July 2, 2017 in the company of her loving family.

     Born July 17, 1920 in Galveston, TX, to James and Annie (Dolly) White, Fay moved to Hitchcock with her family when she was a year old.  Her lifelong home was in Hitchcock, except when following her husband, Harold to Whidbey Island, WA and Corpus Christi, where he was stationed during World War II.  Fay was a member of the HVFD Ladies Auxiliary, the Hitchcock Lioness Club, numerous ladies bridge clubs, including one of which she was a member for over 60 years. She worked for years at the Lawrence Henckel Motor Company and the Henckel Lumber Company in Hitchcock. Fay and her husband, Harold, enjoyed ballroom and country western dancing, she also enjoyed her 3 o’clock coffee with family members, visiting family and friends but loved being a homemaker, mother and grandmother most of all.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Meier; parents, James and Annie White; brothers, Jimmie and Joseph White, Carroll Stanley; sisters, Mary Ellen White, Kathleen Anderson, Eleanor Henckel, Frances Word and Ione Harbor.

     Survivors include her sons, Ronald Meier and wife, Sheila of Hitchcock, Keith Meier and wife, Karen of Katy; grandchildren, Marti Vinson of Ft. Stockton, Kevin Meier and wife, Julie of Bandera, David Meier and wife, Shannon of Kemah, Erin Meier of Grapevine; great grandchildren, Garrett, Lauren, Blake and Avery Meier, Shelbi Carrera, Gavin Boland, Jayke and Sydni McFarland; great great grandchildren, Bentley and Cooper Carrera; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

     A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, July 7, 2017 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Father Chacko Puphumayil, Celebrant and her nephew, Leigh Harbour will provide the scripture readings.  Interment will follow at Galveston Memorial Park under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Hwy 6, (409) 925-3501.

     Pallbearers will be grandsons, Kevin Meier, David Meier and nephews, Billy Anderson, Jeff Landry, Mark Cook and Leroy Knapp.

    Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Hayes Funeral Home with a Vigil service beginning at 7:00 p.m. with Deacon Alvin Lovelady officiating. 

     Memorials in the form of donations may be made to the Genevieve Miller Public Hitchcock Library, 8005 Barry Avenue, Hitchcock, TX 77563.
