Elton Ray Spitzer

TEXAS CITY - Mr. Elton Ray Spitzer passed from this life Thursday evening, November 22, 2018, in Texas City.

Elton was born in Womack, TX to Ernest and Alma (Stark) Spitzer on October 17, 1935. As an honorable soldier, Elton served his country in the U.S. Marines from 1952 – 1955 and once more in the U.S. Air Force from 1955 – 1969. Civilian life lead him to Kennesaw, Georgia where he worked as a superintendent at Gene Short Construction Co. for 12 years and then eventually back to Hitchcock. Elton was a proud member of the FOE Aerie #3789 and loved spending his spare time out on the water fishing. As a nation, we are grateful for his service and as a father, we are grateful for his love.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Louis and Alma Ida (Stark) Spitzer and brothers and sisters, Harold, Erwin, Arnold, Lorene, Lenora, Esther, Elda, Melvin and Mabel.

Survivors include his daughters, Carolyn Louise Spitzer and Cynthia Ann Wheatley of Phoenix; granddaughter, Marrissa Wheatley of Huntington Beach, California and numerous nieces and nephews.
