     SANTA FE - Mrs. Grace Jean Wilkerson passed from this life Saturday evening, September 28, 2019, in Angleton.

     Grace was born September 19, 1931 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Charles and Effie Lou (Simpson) Williams. Like her name, she was a woman of grace and class, but she had a sassy side to her as well. She selflessly raised her six children – making many sacrifices for their comfort. Grace had a determined work ethic which allowed her to take on odd and end jobs while raising a family. She was an honest and quirky woman who loved to watch old westerns, read books and was a talented seamstress. She loved crocheting and sewing but nothing brought her more joy than being a ‘GiGi” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Algoa and loved the lord with all her heart. We are forever grateful for the 88 years of love and memories she graced us with here on earth.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Robert John Small and Jesse J. Wilkerson; sons, Robert Small, Jr., David D. Small; daughter, Renee Small; brother, Gwinn Roberts; sister, Ruby Lee.

     Survivors include her sons, Charles Elvis Small, Gwinn Small and wife, Charrlene; daughter, Guana Jean Cutchall and husband, Jim; sister, Charlene Hardin and husband, Mark; grandchildren, Eric, Victoria, Veronica, Christina, Guana, Charles, II, Rachel, Colleena, David, Jr., Diane, Gary-Wayne, Patrick, Corey, Melissa, Vanessa, Gavin, Grant and Shandele; 48 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

     Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. with funeral services beginning at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 7, 2019, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, with Pastor David Frisbey and Pastor Gavin Hart officiating. Interment will follow at Alta Loma Cemetery.

     Pallbearers will be Grant Hart, Charles Small, II, David Small, Jr, George Lilley, John Hunter and Bill Verm.

     Memorials in the form of donations may be made in Graces’ name to the Veterans Administration, 6900 Almeda Road, Houston, Texas 77030 or the ASPCA, Post Office Box 96929, Washington, DC 20077-7127.
