Gregorio Ybarra, Sr.
ALVIN - Mr. Gregorio Ybarra, Sr. passed from this life, Wednesday, August 7, 2019, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Gregorio was born on November 23, 1942 in Alta Loma to Arnulfo and Juanita Ybarra. He was a devout catholic and was a faithful member of the Knights of Columbus 10393 and his church, Our Lady of Lourdes, which he had been a member of since he was a child. Growing up with 9 brothers and sisters, Gregorio learned what it meant to be selfless and to help those around him. He developed a passion for volunteering and loved helping his community and fellow man. He volunteered for United Way, Galveston County EMS and Citizen Patrol for Alvin PD, just to name a few. He was proud of the certificates and awards he accumulated throughout the years from his volunteerism. Gregorio was a true giver and he especially enjoyed giving his time as a videographer/photographer for special events. He was a great cook, loved music of all kinds and had an impressive record collection. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed cheering on the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Astros any chance he could. Gregorio was a special man who touched the lives of so many and he will be truly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Henry Ybarra, Sr., Lawrence Ybarra Sr., Frank Ybarra; sister, Betrice Gonzales.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 19 years, Leonor (Flores) Ybarra; sons, Greg Ybarra, Jr., Zachary Ybarra; daughters, Holly Ybarra, Beth Bryan and husband, Jason, Blanca Day, Sofia Smith and husband, Greg, Kim Chatelier and husband, Lionel, Krystal Trevino and husband, Jason; brothers, Arnulfo Ybarra, Jr. and wife, Susie, Joe Ybarra, Edward Ybarra, Sr. and wife, Lizzie; sisters, Mary Perez, Solanda Miranda; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and pup, Charlie "Dog."
Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, August 13, 2019 in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Hwy 6, Hitchcock, from 5:00-6:30 p.m. with a Vigil service at 6:30 p.m. followed by a Rosary service at 7:30 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 14, 2019, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Reverend David Harris, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.
