James Edward Elder, Jr.

     SANTA FE – Mr. James Edward Elder, Jr., passed from this life Saturday morning, June 3, 2017, in Santa Fe.

     Born November 5, 1945 in Pasadena, Texas, Mr. Elder had been a resident of Santa Fe since 1981, previously of Houston. Eddie proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy and won the Texas State Championship in 1963. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, boating, the beach, cards, horse shoes, golf and auto racing. Eddie especially loved watching his grandchildren play ball.

     He was preceded in death by his mother, Maxine (Ring) Lyons and sister, Patricia (Elder) Cook.

     Survivors include his loving wife of over 51 years, Carol Elder; father, Kelly Lyons of Castroville; sons, James “David” Elder and fiance, Patrick O'Neill of New York City, Danny Ray Elder and wife, Lisa of League City; daughter, Stormy Renee LeBlanc and husband, Mark of Belton; brothers, Preston Lyons and wife, Audrey of Corpus Christi, Roddy Gadeburg of Illinois; grandchildren, Haley LeBlanc, Danielle Elder, Kade LeBlanc, Devon Elder, Demi Elder, Slade LeBlanc; numerous nieces and nephews.

     Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 5, 2017, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, with a memorial service at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor J. P. Gregory officiating. A private cremation was conducted under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.
