Leah Virginia Dannar

     SANTA FE – Mrs. Leah Virginia Dannar passed from this life Monday, April 2, 2018, in Texas City.

     Born October 14, 1910 in Iredell, Texas, Mrs. Dannar had been a resident of Galveston County since 1945 and was a longtime member of Santa Fe Baptist Church. Leah worked in the cafeteria for Hitchcock ISD and at the elementary school cafeteria for Santa Fe ISD when it was still located at Behringer Field. She helped start several nursing homes in Alvin, serving as their kitchen manager during their inception.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion Jasper and Ada Beulah (Thomson) Trammell; husband, John Roy Dannar; son, Roy Dannar; daughter, Ada Rebecca Dannar.

     Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Ann and husband, Oscar E. Lester, Jr of Santa Fe; 8 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

     Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery, with Pastor Lucas Campbell officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.
