Leonard David Stone, Jr.
SANTA FE - Mr. Leonard David Stone, Jr. passed from this life Tuesday evening, April 30, 2019, in Webster.
Born December 2, 1944 in Wichita Falls, Mr. Stone had been a resident of Santa Fe for the past 7 years, previously of Houston. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War before earning his Master’s Degree in Theology and his Bachelor’s Degree in environmental science. David worked as the associate Pastor at First Baptist Church of Genoa, taught math, science and was a bible teacher along with being a football and soccer coach. He was an avid sailor but above all he was a great husband, father, grandfather and foster parent.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard David and Dorothy Helen (Childress) Stone, Sr. and daughter, Elizabeth Helen Stone.
Survivors include his loving wife of 33 years, Christine Stone; children, Rebecca Daley and husband, Bruce of Fredericksburg, TX, Michael Stone and wife, Michelle of Mandeville, LA, Andrew Stone and wife, Kathrine, Jeremy Stone, Christian Stone, David Kade Stone all of Santa Fe; Peggy Bratcher Stone Rodriguez (Michael, Becky and Elizabeth’s mother) of Pasadena; brother, Thomas Stone of Sunset, TX; sister, Emma Molder and husband, James of Decatur, TX; nephews, Alex Roller, James Molder, Jake Molder, Jack Stone; grandchildren, Sarah Stone, Christopher Daley, Megan Daley and Grace Daley.
A private cremation was conducted under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX (409) 925-3501. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
