To all who knew Paul knows how much he will be missed. He has been an inspiration in my life and I was blessed to have known and worked with him. I will truly miss his jokes and our time riding from job to job. I will miss you and pray for your family. Thank you for sharing him with me.

To the Cook family: I didn't really know him but had the pleasure of speaking with him on the phone. My husband of 26 years passed away Oct of 2016. During the probate, I found that we did not have the WPI-8 necessary for a window replacement in 2014. The original engineer had moved to Germany and couldn't help, so I called the La Marque TDI office and was referred to Mr. Cook. He actually new my husband (former building inspector for Tiki Island and Bayou Vista). We spoke at length several times and learned we had more in common, I had lost my husband in Oct and he had lost his wife in Aug. He said he could identify with me, the loss and the hurt. He was going to personally walk my paperwork thru to insure that I got the necessary certificate to keep my windstorm insurance. Due to a delay (after loosing my husband, my father passed away May 17) we were not able to complete the process. I enjoyed our talks. We spoke of loosing our spouses, the joys and the pain. He was the kindest most compassionate, sincere man. Your obiturary fits him to a tee. When the engineering company told me today that he had passed away I as shocked. He restored my faith in humanity. I know you don't know me, but I felt that you should now what an impact he had on me...someone he'd never met, only talked to on the phone; though he knew my husband. I know he had to be very special. I was planning on taking him some homemade muffins this week. I hate that I didn't get the chance, wanted to meet him in person. My mom passed in 1996, and now loosing my husband suddenly to a brain hemorrhage and my dad 7 months later due to a routine endoscopy I find myself doubting my faith.... but I will still say God bless your mom and dad and your family. I would like to think they are all at peace and in a better place. Again, just wanted you to know that he touched my life and I had never met him. Take care. Theresa Pearce

Hello Theresa,

Thank you for taking the time to write your story about the help you received from Paul. The details add to our family's picture of him as a caring individual, not only in his personal life, but also in his professional life. I'm praying that someone at TDI will fill his shoes and help you get the certificate you need. Thank you again for making the effort to share your story with us, especially as you grieve for your own husband and dad.

Kindest regards,

Norma

My cousin Paul...although we moved far apart I will always remember playing with the Cook family as children when our families would come together on special occasions. I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to all of his family and hope that their memories of this gentle person will help them through this time of sorrow. Go with God, Paul.

I had the pleasure of working with Paul at TDI and as a friend, enjoyed sharing our common interest in classic cars, reel-to-reel recordings, etc.
My earliest memory of Paul was when I travelled from the Austin Engineering Services office to the La Marque Windstorm field office to inspect engineered structures with the newest “trainee.” We discussed various issues related to the design and construction of wind-resistant structures with appointed engineers, builders and contractors. As Paul’s training days concluded, the only guidance I gave Paul related to the cartoon characters in his e-mail correspondence to the Department. I guess he got the message, because he was the TDI field engineering department thereafter.
Paul will be sorely missed by his family, friends and coworkers. Paul, through his example, made me a better man and engineer. RIP

I have had the honor to work with Paul since June 2013 at Texas Department of Insurance. Paul is always about helping people, especially those that need an advocate to fight for their interests. I will sorely miss Paul and our daily discussions on many topics. Paul was keenly interested in being the best at everything he attempted, always looking to learn. I will miss this humble and honorable man whom I consider a good friend. I will grieve his passing and offer my sincere, heartfelt sympathy to all members of his family.

To Paul's family, whom I never met, please accept my most sincere condolences on Paul's passing. I have known Paul since the early 90's when he was working for Mobil B&P in Beaumont. Paul was a collegue and most importantly, a friend. I was shocked to hear of his passing and I will miss Paul. My heart is heavy, RIP Paul.
