SANTA FE - Mrs. Thelma Lee “Jackie” Curtis passed from this life Thursday afternoon, October 5, 2017, in League City.

Born May 3, 1926 in Turkey, Texas, Mrs. Curtis had been a resident of Santa Fe since 1962 previously of Hitchcock. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Hitchcock where she was active in the Fidelis Sunday School Class. She had been a unit clerk at County Memorial Hospital for 20 years and enjoyed crocheting, reading and shopping.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Don; sisters, Johnnie Fox, Helen Burt and Jean Curtis. Survivors include her sons, A.W. “Wayne” Curtis and wife, Nicolette, Jimmy D. Curtis all of Santa Fe; daughter, Cheryl J. Curtis of Pasadena; sister, Mary B. “Chetta” Williams; brother-in-law, D.D. Curtis; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Ivonne Bush all of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Brian Curtis and wife, Deanna, Karri Ann Brock, Stephen Scott Curtis and wife, Evelyn, Brandy Kelly and husband, Jimmy, Blake O. Curtis and wife, Amber, Brandon E. Bankus; 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild on the way.

Visitation will be Monday, October 9, 2017, from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. with a service beginning at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, Texas, with Pastor Lee Balinas officiating. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Adrian Curtis, Blake Curtis, Brian Curtis, Christian Curtis, Gary Curtis and Steven Curtis.

Memorials in the form of donations may be made in Jackie’s name to First Baptist Church of Hitchcock, 6601 FM 2004, Hitchcock, Texas 77563 or American Cancer Society, Post Office Box 22718, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73123-1718.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to Regent Care Center and Essential Hospice for the loving care they provided to Mrs. Curtis.
