Voncille Tombrella

SANTA FE ~ Mrs. Voncille (Cheatham) “Von” Tombrella passed from this life Friday morning, March 9, 2018, at her home in Santa Fe, surrounded by her loving family.

Born September 4, 1928 in Springhill, Louisiana, Von had been a lifetime resident of Santa Fe. She married Joe Kelly Tombrella on June 15, 1947 at St. Elizabeth Church in Alta Loma and began a union that would span almost 71 years and produced three children, Eddie, Jo Ann and Robert. Von and Joe were the owners and operators of Minimax Grocery Store and Holiday Foods and longtime faithful members of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.

Von was a member of The American Business Women’s Association for several years and was named “Women of the Year”. She was an Honorary Member of the Alta Loma Fire Department, a director of the Galveston County Children’s Protective Service Board of Directors and also received an award from The Texas General Land Office Adopt-A-Beach program.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by Janet Tombrella and Rachel Rodriquez; her children, Eddie Tombrella of Santa Fe, JoAnn and Jim Burnam of Santa Fe, Robert and Debbie Tombrella of Burnet, Texas; grandchildren, Melissa and James Grassmuck, David and Dr. Josie Tombrella, Wesley and Michelle Burnam, Alan Burnam, Kimberly Burnam, Kelly Burnam, Rachel Blundell, Rob and Michelle Tombrella, Dr. Joey and Michelle Tombrella, Jennifer Tombrella; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Reverend John Kappe, Celebrant. Entombment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Kelly Jordan, Paul Wayne Jordan, Frank J. Marullo, Frank Marullo, Frank Marabella and Joe Tambrella. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Jack Tombrella, Johnny Rothermel, Joe Konecny and Edward Martorell.

A visitation in her honor will be held Monday, March 12, 2018 at Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., with a vigil beginning at 7:00 p.m., Deacon Alvin Lovelady officiating.
