SUGAR LAND – Mr. Alvin Lavern Olsen passed from this life Sunday morning, March 24, 2013, in Wharton, Texas.

Born July 27, 1920, in Dwight, Illinois to Gerluf and Lula Olsen. Mr. Olsen served on the school board of Goodfarm grade school as well as Gardner South Wilmington High School. Alvin was a farmer for over 70 years, a member of the Grundy County Farm Bureau and a member of the Loyal Order of Moose in Kankakee, Illinois. His passions in life besides his family and friends were bowling, fishing, traveling and his love for animals.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerluf and Lula Olsen; brother-in-law, Thomas Carpenter.

Survivors include his loving wife of 71 years, Helen Marie Olsen; daughter, Barbara Jean Olsen of Sugarland, Texas; sisters, Blanch Carpenter of Astor, Florida, Pearle Brown and husband, Richard of Kankakee, Illinois; sister-in-law, Evelyn Howland of Gardner, Illinois; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends and his beloved Kodi Bear.
