Arthur Sendejas

SANTA FE – Mr. Arthur Sendejas passed from this life Tuesday, February 13, 2024, in Santa Fe.

Born December 14, 1950, in Galveston, Mr. Sendejas had been a resident of Hitchcock/Santa Fe for most of his life. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. A true historian and political enthusiast, and a former member of Woodmen of the World, he dedicated his time to service and community. He retired from BP/Amoco after 30 plus years of service. Arthur had a knack for tinkering with machines, especially lawn mowers, and was known for his ability to fix almost anything. But most of all he loved being there for his family. He will be remembered and missed for his generosity and big heart.

He is preceded in death by his son, Isaac Sendejas; father, Fidencio Sendejas; brother, Fidencio Sendejas, Jr.; sister, Virginia Sendejas.

Survivors include his loving wife of over 51 years, Sonia Sendejas; son, Eric Sendejas and Gwen Deamor of Manvel; daughter, Yvette Velez and husband, Wilmer of Santa Fe; his loving grandchildren, Ethan Velez, Eliza Velez; friend, Rick Compean and wife, Pam, who he loved like a brother.

Also survived by his mother, Ofelia Garibay Sendejas of Hitchcock; siblings, Dora Villarreal and husband, Pedro of Galveston, Anna Flores and husband, Chris of Santa Fe, David Sendejas and wife, Joan of Hitchcock, Norma Estrada and husband, Rick of Austin; numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery 7801 Gulf Freeway, Dickinson, Texas, with Father Larry Wilson officiating.

Memorials in the form of donations may be made in Arthur’s name to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 10114 Highway 6, Hitchcock, Texas 77563.
