Betty Lou (Tulp) Russell Obituary
DANBURY – Ms. Betty Lou Russell passed from this life Monday morning, July 8, 2024, in Danbury.
Betty was born June 28, 1953, in Texas City. She had a strong work ethic, always providing for her children, but her versatile career took her down many interesting paths before finding the right profession. She worked as a dispatcher, bookkeeper, and police officer – to name a few. When she started working as an administrator for the UTMB’s Anatomy and Neuroscience department, she realized that nursing was her calling. After graduating nursing school, Betty started her 24-year career as a nurse, eventually retiring from nursing. There wasn’t anything she loved more than her grandchildren. She adored them and took them wherever they needed to go. Betty was a wonderful grandmother, and she will be sorely missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chris Walter and Ida Louise (McNary) Tulp; sisters, Joyce Vaughn and Frankie Segelquist; brother, Edwin Anderson.
Survivors include her sons, Joshua Williams and wife, Amanda, Steve Gassaway and wife, Dana, Chris Gassaway; daughter, Stacy Powell and husband, Cody; grandchildren, Dalton Skaggs, Branden Williams, Fisher Gassaway, Bradley Williams, Brook Williams, Morgan Gassaway; fur baby, Sam; numerous nieces and nephews, and grand-dogs.
A private cremation was conducted under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX (409) 925-3501.
