HITCHCOCK – Mr. Blas Rodriguez, 84, went home with our Lord Jesus Christ, Wednesday 22nd of May 2024 at home surrounded by family.
Blas was born February 3, 1940, in Sugar Land, Texas to Simon Rodriguez and Ysabel Venegas Rodriguez. He spent many years working for Union Carbide and Dow Chemical as an operator and retired at the age of 57. He enjoyed many moments in life traveling with family, watching football on weekends and always enjoyed a good puzzle, especially cryptograms.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Simon and Ysabel Rodriguez; children, Patricia Marie Rodriguez, Paul Blas Rodriguez; siblings, Trini Daniel, Alfred Rodriguez, Martha Castillio, Fransico Morales, Guadalupe Gutierrez and George Morales.
Survivors include his loving wife, Effie Rodriguez, children, Jimmy Rodriguez and Rose Leonard; grandchildren, Jimmy Rodriguez, Asa Leonard, Catherine Cook, Matthew Rodriquez, Jasmine Dugat, Anthony P. Davis, Michael J. Garcia, Frederick Reed, Albert Rodriguez, Christina Reed, Edward J. Rodriguez, Joseph Rodriguez, Vincent Rodriguez and Emilio Rodriguez; 30 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; siblings, Manda Hernandez, Raymond Rodriguez; numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Father Larry Wilson Celebrant.
Casketbearers will be his grandsons.
Visitation will be held from 5 - 7 p.m. Friday at Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501, with a Vigil Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. with Deacon Alvin Lovelady officiating.
Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, in Dickinson.
