Bobby Adkins Obituary

SANTA FE – Mr. Bobby Adkins passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2025.

Bobby was born in Marshall, Texas on September 10, 1946. His family moved to Beaumont when he was a child and where he attended school. After high school Bobby proudly joined the United States Marine Corps in 1965, serving honorably during the Vietnam era. Once his tour was over, he came back to Beaumont for a bit but eventually relocated to Houston where he worked as a manager, overseeing mergers and large companies in the oil and trucking industries for over 20 years. On January 1, 1995, Bobby and Annette were married and shared 30 years together. Bobby applied for the Occupational Therapy program at UTMB. Although he wasn’t accepted yet, he took the leap of faith by moving to Santa Fe in hopes of his acceptance, which did happen. He earned his Bachelor of Science of Occupational Therapy degree in 1998 at the age of 52. Helping those who needed it the most was his calling. He loved his job and eventually retired after working in the home health industry with geriatric patients. In his younger years he was known for wild game hunting and went deep-sea fishing on his birthday for many years. If Bobby wasn’t home, he was probably out traveling around America, from the Redwood Forest to the gulf stream waters, he took in and appreciated all the sights they could make. Bobby was even tempered, hardly ever using harsh words, but when he used that “tone” you knew to stop. He guided and supported all his children about the importance of education and hard work. He was proud of the success of all his children from serving in the military, education and other successful careers. He always had words of wisdom and encouragement for his children and grandchildren. He loved watching the Astros… especially if they won. He would always have his sidekick dachshund, Tommy, with him wherever he went until Tommy’s passing. Bobby was a man of honor, dignity, selflessness and kindness.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jim Adkins; mother, Mary Alice Scaife; sister, Joni Bishop.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Annette Adkins; children, Lauren Perry (Chris), LCDR Kevin Ralson, USCG (Cecilia), Ashley Adkins, Glen Adkins (David), Holli Cruse (Randy); grandchildren, Jace, Mason, Everly, Nolan, Elizabeth, Lilliana, Taylor, Shaley, Cooper, Ty, Katelyn; great-grandchildren, Paisley, Ethan; sister, Kim Bricker (Frankie); brother, Ronnie Adkins (Nina); numerous nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.

A special thank you to his care team and his favorite home nurse Amanda.
