Bobby Randall Johnson Obituary
SANTA FE – Bobby Randall Johnson passed away at the age of 74 on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, in Santa Fe.
Born January 7, 1952, in Ville Platte, Louisiana, Mr. Johnson was a resident of Santa Fe for most of his life, previously of Galveston. Bobby began his law enforcement career at age 19 with the Houston Police Department on August 23, 1971. He was severely injured in the line of duty and decided to switch careers to trucking. The love of the badge took over, and he became Skip Gay’s first Deputy Constable of Precinct 4 (now Precinct 2).
In 1990 he decided to spread his wings and join Galveston Police Department. After 20 years of Mounted Patrol, Field training and Patrolman, he retired to “stay home” with his family. Of course he could not just “stay home” and owned Lawn-N-More lawncare.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Myrtis Johnson; best friend, Eric Cox; beloved horse, Cade.
Survivors include his loving wife of 35 years, Patti Johnson; children, Mike Chapman of Dickinson, Natalie Johnson of Santa Fe, Michelle Evans of Galveston, Erin Johnson-Perry and husband, Jason of Webster, Melissa Copeland and husband, Colin of Baytown, Amanda Garthwaite and husband, Zach of League City; sister, Brenda L. Johnson-Rush of Santa Fe; aunt, Barbara Ann Johnson-Vautrot; 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; dog, Lyla.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at First Baptist Church of Alta Loma, 5400 FM 646, Santa Fe, with Pastor Jake Bigford officiating. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kale Chapman, Mike Chapman, Marcus Kay, Mason Perthuis, Jason Perry and Butch Stroud. Honorary bearers will be Galveston Police Officers, Houston Police Officers and Galveston County Precinct 4 Constables.
