SANTA FE – Ms. Brenda Kay Nelson passed away at the age of 71 on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, in League City.
Born August 20, 1953, in Texas City, Ms. Nelson was a lifelong area resident. Brenda worked at Mainland Medical Center as a home health secretary for over 12 years and worked at Healthy Way Dairy with her brother for 8 years. She was a member of Arcadia First Baptist Church, and enjoyed playing guitar with her cousin, Jackie, rock music, watching baking and cooking shows, dogs and cows, and old hot rods and fast cars.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Gussie (Kiser) Nelson; brother, Robert “Bobby” Nelson; sister, Elizabeth “Bee” Nelson.
Survivors include her son, Chad Nelson of Santa Fe; brothers, William A. “Bill” Nelson and wife, Lillian of Santa Fe; sister, Bert Chesshir of Santa Fe; sister-in-law, Janie Nelson of Pearland.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Arcadia First Baptist Church, 14828 Highway 6, Santa Fe, Texas with Pastor Joshua McDonald officiating. Interment will follow at Alta Loma Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Gilbert Cortez, Aaron Nelson, Chad Nelson, Lance Nelson, Matthew Nelson, Parker Reese. Honorary bearers will be Harold Chesshir, II and Mitch Chesshir.
Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX (409) 925-3501.
