Brenda J. (Knotts) Schattel

SANTA FE – Mrs. Brenda J. Schattel passed from this life Monday, December 8, 2025, in League City.

Born August 26, 1943, in Elwod, Indiana, Mrs. Schattel had been a resident of Santa Fe for 61 years. She spent 14 dedicated years working as a directory assistance operator with Southwestern Bell, where her steady presence and kind voice were a comfort to many. She enjoyed playing cards and was an active participant at the Senior Citizens Center in Hitchcock. A proud member of the American Businesswomen’s Association, she valued community, friendship, and lifelong learning. In her free time, she loved nothing more than spending time with her grandchildren. She was also exceptionally talented with her hands—knitting, crocheting, and sewing gifts that will be treasured for years to come.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Owen and Margary (Hinkel) Knotts; sister, Kathrine Kamman.

Survivors include her son, Randy Schattel of Santa Fe; daughter, Venita Sheldon of Nassau Bay; sister, Armeda Smith of Pasadena; grandchildren, Ian Sheldon and wife, Jessica, Colin Sheldon and fiancé, Michaella Petrosky, Iris Musso; numerous nieces and nephews, who called her Aunt BeeBee.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 12, 2025, at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery, with Pastor Arthur Williams officiating.
