Bryan Lauzon Obituary

Bryan Ray Lauzon

SANTA FE - Mr. Bryan Ray Lauzon passed from this life Monday morning, December 4, 2023, in Santa Fe.

Bryan was the third of 4 boys, born December 31, 1957, to Francis Edward Lauzon, Jr., and Ruby (Bethune) Lauzon. Bryan grew up going to church on Sunday and playing music. He was a talented musician who learned to play the drums in Junior High School. After graduating Santa Fe High School, Bryan played for a couple of summers in the Galveston Beach Band as their drummer. He worked as a longshoreman, heavy equipment mechanic for the ILA until he retired after 38 years. Music was a passion. He enjoyed live music and always had to have some kind of beat in the background, usually something country. Bryan was an avid fisherman, who loved boating and spending his days on the water. Some of Bryan’s best times were spent at the Galveston County Fair and Rodeo cooking. He was a huge part of “The Team in Heat” and “The Other Cookers”, serving as chief cook for years. Eventually, the teams merged to make “The Other Cookers Are Always In Heat”; this is the team that would lead them to victory many times over. Bryan loved traveling on cruises, taking his Harley for a ride, finding a good deal (on anything) and making us laugh with his bad dad jokes. Bryan was a true gentleman who was and will always be deeply loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis Edward Lauzon, Jr. and Ruby (Bethune) Lauzon; Hilda’s daughter, Megan Lathrop.

Survivors include his loving fiancé, Hilda Bentley; her daughters, Ashley Rodriguez and husband, Robert, Sydney McDowell and husband, Aaron, Madison Widenhouse; her grandchildren, Olivia Rodriguez, Isabella Rodriguez, Amelia Rodriguez, Milo McDowell, Austyn Dowdy, whom he all loved dearly; brothers, Eddie Lauzon and wife, Mary, Clyde Lauzon and wife, Mary, Larry Lauzon and wife, Terri; nephew, Ben Lauzon; nieces, Jamie Tyrrell, Lisa Tovey and husband, Tim, Christy Biddinger and husband, Bubba; numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 9, 2023, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, with Pastor Dale Wratchford officiating. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.
