SANTA FE – Mrs. Carla Denise Young passed away at the age of 68 on Thursday, May 7, 2026, in League City.

Born June 22, 1957, in Baytown, Mrs. Young was a resident of Santa Fe, previously of Texas City. Carla was a vibrant and creative spirit who found joy in the simple and beautiful things in life. She loved shopping and had a special appreciation for shoes and collecting Fiesta ware. Her hands were rarely still—she enjoyed pottery, baking, cooking, and floral arranging, each reflecting her eye for detail and love of creating something meaningful. She also enjoyed traveling, especially cruising, where she could relax, explore, and take in new experiences. Above all, Carla cherished time spent with family and the connections that meant the most to her. She will be remembered for her creativity, her warmth, and the joy she found in everyday life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Mary (Avant) Salter; brother, Mike Salter; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harry and Delores Mewis; brother-in-law, Patrick McHugh.

Survivors include her husband of nearly 52 years, Edd Young; sons, Trey Young and wife, Ann Marie of Boerne, Brandon Young of Houston; siblings, Patsy McHugh of Mont Belvieu, Bobby Collins and wife, Kathy of Highlands, Ernest Salter, Jr., and wife, Terina of Mont Belvieu, Kevin Salter of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Payton Young, Summer Young and Tate Gonzales, Cole Young, Sloan Denise Young; great-grandchild, Charlotte Jo Gonzales; best friends, Don and Resa Jackson.

Visitation with the family will be at 10:00 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 22, 2026, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, with Mr. Gary Windham officiating.
