Carroll William “Bill” Prewitt
SANTA FE - Mr. Carroll William “Bill” Prewitt passed from this life Sunday morning, September 18, 2022, in League City.
Born November 15, 1933, in Chillicothe, Missouri, Mr. Prewitt had been a resident of Santa Fe since 1965. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard. Bill worked as barber before beginning his career as a truck driver, working for Central Truck Lines, Spur Truck Lines and Prewitt Trucking, retiring after more than 50 years. He enjoyed hunting, working in his yard, doing woodwork, bar-b-quing and traveling, he enjoyed raising horses and cows and will always be remembered for his strong work ethic.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Lee and Sarah Belle (Rice) Prewitt; 7 brothers, 2 sisters and his daughter, Sonya Belle Burnett.
Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Mary Prewitt; sons, Walter Prewitt and wife Darlene, Terry Prewitt and wife, Jacque, Donald Prewitt and wife, Mary; daughter, Kim Ray; brothers, Gary Prewitt and Donald Prewitt; 11 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at noon, Thursday, September 22, 2022, at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery with Pastor Joshua McDonald officiating.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Burnett, Justin McAuley, Dylan Prewitt, Grayson Watson, John Vaughn and Kyle Cornelius. Honorary bearers will be Greg Vaughn, Chuck Patterson, Sean Bedford, John Burnett, Paul Watson, Vincent Prewitt and Cooper Ray
Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Thursday at Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX (409) 925-3501.
Memorials in the form of donations may be made in Bill’s name to Alzheimer’s Association, 6055 South Loop East, Houston, Texas 77087.
