Corenne "Bitsy" (Evans) Spaulding

SANTA FE – Corenne Spaulding passed away at the age of 83 on February 22, 2026, in Santa Fe.

Corenne was the youngest, born on September 14, 1942, in Dallas to Cecil and Madelyn (Gouph) Evans. She worked in administration for UTMB when she met Bobby Spaulding. After their courtship, the two were married in June 1965. She also worked for many years at Houston Lighting and Power Company. She loved cruises, log cabins, and everything Disney. She was an avid antique shopper, especially for Coca-Cola finds. She never missed a chance to cheer on the Houston Texans and, before that, the Oilers, and had a love for the Houston Astros. Corenne’s compassion for others was evident in her volunteer work for SFISD and all school events for her kids and grandkids. She was a wonderful cook and in her quiet time, she loved reading a good mystery novel. We would be remiss not to mention her love for country music which she listened to all the time. Her favorite musician being George Straight, “her boyfriend”.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Madelyn (Gouph) Evans; son, Randy Spaulding; sister, Jim Pat Speer; and sister-in-law, Dawn Ella Russell.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Bobby Spaulding; daughter, Cheryl Young and husband, Ryan; brothers-in-law, Gordon Wayne Spaulding, Douglas Spaulding; sister-in-law, Genivee Morgan; grandchildren, Dana Spaulding, Roland Young; great-grandchildren, Kennady Spaulding-Sabatier, Sophia Sabatier, Avery Sabatier, Madelyn Sabatier; and her cat, Blackie.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 27, 2026, at Faith Lutheran Church, 801 FM 517 Road E, Dickinson, TX, with Pastor David Buco officiating.  Interment will be at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Douglas Spaulding, Gordon Wayne Spaulding, Ryan Young, Mark Morgan, Sr., Keith Morgan, Michael Morgan, Brian Morgan, and Brandon Odom. Honorary bearers will be Damon Russell, Roland Young and Kennady Spaulding-Sabatier.

Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 26, 2026, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX (409) 925-3501.
