Daniel Lew Auzenne went to be with the Lord after a lengthy battle with cancer in Houston, Texas at Harbor Hospice Center at the age of sixty-four.

Daniel L. Auzenne lived most of his life in Hitchcock, Texas. He attended Hitchcock High School and afterwards enlisted in the U. S. Army. Leaving the military, he came back home and made Queen of Peace Catholics his family until God gave him another assignment to move to Texas City where St. Mary’s Catholic Church became his kindle spirit which continued his servitude as a liturgical minister.

Coach Danny (known by his players) on the Hitchcock Red Raiders football team which he coached for more than twenty years. Daniel also referees football games and umpired baseball games. He also enjoys spending time with his children by going fishing, cooking and baking just to see the joy and happiness on their faces. Zydeco dancing and talking noise while playing dominos was a certainty.

Daniel worked at the Local Union Hall employed by Bechtel Refinery. He drove buses for Connect Transit in Texas City, Texas and Allied Security was his last employment.

Preceding in death was his parents, Mr. Israel and Wilda Auzenne and brother, Joseph Auzenne.

Daniel leaves to cherish his beautiful memories with his children, sons, Damien Derouen of La Marque, Daniel “DJ” Auzenne, Jr. of San Antonio, Texas, Brandon Robinson of Texas City, Texas; daughters, Danielle Auzenne of Baytown, Texas, Donisha Robinson and Angel Robinson of Texas City, Iyiana Myers of Baytown, Texas, Star Myers of Houston, Texas. Daniel also leaves to celebrate his life are his siblings, sisters; Elizabeth “Betty” Compton Auzenne of Galveston, Texas, Diane Hill (James) Kennesaw of Georgia, Patsy Tolden of Texas City, Texas,  Ellen Smith of Freeport, Texas, Bobbie James Phifer of Cedar Park, Texas; brothers, Carl Auzenne (Erma) of Grand Prairie, Texas, Gene Auzenne (Eloise) of Hurst, Texas; 13 grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and other cherished relatives.

Visitation will be from 8:00 – 9:00 a.m. followed by a celebration of life will at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, November 16, 2024, at St. Mary’s of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church, 1604 9th Avenue North, Texas City, Texas 77590, with Reverend Clint Ressler officiating.  Interment will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November19, 2024, at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers D.J. Auzenne, Lawrence “Bo” Auzenne, Damien Derouen, Joshua Felder, Toney Hurd, Jr., Brandon Robinson. Honorary pallbearers Carl Auzenne, Gene Auzenne, Markus Keeton, Calvin Hill, Troy Lazare and Reginal Auzenne.
