Danny Hopper Obituary

Danny Lee Hopper

May 1, 1954 ~ July 8, 2025

HITCHCOCK - Danny Lee Hopper, 71, of Hitchcock, Texas, passed away on July 8, 2025.

Born on May 1, 1954, Danny built a life rooted in hard work, family, and simple joys. He worked in the propane industry and was known for his reliability, dry wit, and his signature combination of grouchy and loveable, equal parts gruff and warm hearted, depending on the day (and who you asked).

Danny had a passion for classic cars, drag racing, and recreational shooting. He never turned down a game of Bible Trivial Pursuit or a good round of cards. While he wasn’t one for big crowds, he enjoyed quiet time with close family and friends, especially if it involved good food, strong coffee, and a few sarcastic comments.

One of the most constant parts of Danny’s life was working alongside his baby brother, Ronnie. From their childhood days to Danny’s very last day on earth, the two worked side by side, including the last 30 years at Hops, building a bond rooted in hard work, loyalty, and brotherly stubbornness.

He is survived by his children, Brandy and her husband, Terry Savoy, Christopher and his wife, Claudia Hopper; stepchildren, Brooke and Bob; brother, Ronnie and wife, Cookie Hopper; sister, Marlyene and husband, Ray Weems. He was a proud grandfather and great grandfather and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will remember him with love, laughter, and a few classic Danny one-liners.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rodney and Barbara Hopper and his great nephew, Austin Hoke.

Danny will be remembered for his strong presence, quick wit, stubborn charm, and the way he always showed up for the people he cared about, even if he made a show of grumbling about it first.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
