SANTA FE, TX – Darren Wayne Hockenbury, 62, of Santa Fe, Texas, passed away peacefully, Friday, June 14, 2024, surrounded by family. He was born to proud and loving parents, Arnold & Frankie Hockenbury, on March 14, 1962.
Darren spent two decades developing Hockenbury Ranch in Fredericksburg, Texas where he proudly taught his grandchildren to fish and hunt and process game. He began his professional career as a meat cutter following in his father’s footsteps and then worked for 35 years as a process and technology operator. In 2021, he retired from Marathon Galveston Bay Refinery. Retirement led him to Lake Buchanan for a life of leisure that included fishing, boating, and gardening. His work ethic was unbeatable, and he could build or fix anything.
Darren was preceded in death by his father, Arnold Hockenbury and wife, Pam.
Left to cherish his memories of love and legacy are his loving and devoted wife of 35 years, Judy Hockenbury; his daughters, Janis Brizendine (Brent), and Hayleigh Johnson (Manuel); parents, Johnny & Frankie Barrow; siblings, Shannon Belluomini (Joe), Wally Hockenbury (Brandy), and Jerry Hockenbury (Misha); grandchildren, Riley Jones, Austin Johnson, Brandon Brizendine, Luke Brizendine, Laken Johnson, and Sofia Brizendine; a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and his animals that he adored.
Darren’s family sends their heartfelt appreciation to Brighton Senior Living at Regency Village staff and hospice team.
The family will respect Darren’s wishes to be cremated and not have a service.
