ALVIN - Mr. David “Bubba” Rogers, Jr. (Smiley) passed from this life Sunday evening, July 14, 2024, in Texas City.

David, known to most as Smiley or Bubba, was a proud BOI February 5, 1951. From an early age, Smiley had a passion for baseball, playing little league in Jr. High. He graduated from Ball High School in 1969 and continued to fuel his passion for baseball by watching Astro’s games. He was a devoted fan of the Astro’s and the Dallas Cowboys – watching every game he could and attending some too. His time in Ball High taught Smiley how to woodwork and he was known for making tables for family and friends. He loved walking on the beach and playing music. He could cut a rug, play the keyboard and piano. In 1996 he joined St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where he enjoyed doing God’s work. The last 5 years Smiley lived at Laurel Court. It was a place where he was loved and cared for greatly by the staff – they became like family and made his last years happy ones! We will always remember that happy smile and kind soul.
