Debbie Childers Obituary

Debbie Childers

November 8, 1961- December 30, 2024

Momma finally made it home on December 30, 2024, after a lengthy battle with her health. But oh, what a day that was, when she got to meet Jesus face to face. She passed peacefully, taking her last breath to the final lines of “I'll Fly Away”.

Mom was proceeded in death by her parents, Grace Ann and Tim Sr.; her brother, Tim Jr.; her nephew, Aaron, and her best friend, Santos Vargas. She is survived by her sister, Lori and niece, Sydney; her daughter, Allison and granddaughter, Elora, her daughter, Merranda and granddaughter, Lily.

Mom taught us to love. She was the queen of circling the proverbial wagons. If something was going wrong in one of our lives she would say, “Pray about it and duck”, meaning give it to God and get out of the way.

Mom had a love of gardening, and the greenest thumb imaginable. When we were little, she grew a one-acre garden, and Dad hunted to feed the family. She called her free-range chickens “yard flowers”, much to the neighbors’ chagrin.

Mom was the most capable person; she would say: “Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can, and pray about it”. We nicknamed her “Squirrel”, because you never knew what she squirreled away to be used later. I suspect we will be finding things for years.

Mom wasn't afraid to die, she knew she would be with her heavenly Father. She can finally truly rest. Momma accepted Jesus as a small child, and found a neighbor that would take her with them. She would tell the story of how she was so little, she would be picked up and placed in the counter to put her white patent shoes on, to head off to church.

We love you, Mom.
