Diana Kay Spencer
SANTA FE - Mrs. Diana Kay Spencer passed away from this life Friday morning, October 13, 2023, in Santa Fe.
Diana was born July 3, 1947, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She married her high school sweetheart, Donald Spencer, Sr., and they shared over 40 years together before his passing. They loved traveling around the U.S., whether by train, car, or boat. Without fail, if there was a lighthouse on the way to the destination, they would stop. Diana’s source of happiness came mostly from her family and animals. Immanuel Kant said: “We can judge the heart of man by his treatment of animals.” So, it’s safe to say that Diana’s heart was golden. She was an avid contributor to the ASPCA and loved her furbabies fiercely. They were the perfect companions to help her stay focused on the sitcoms or movies she loved watching. We’ll miss Diana, but we know that one day we will see her again… probably holding a couple of cats!
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald Harry Sorensen and Agnes Patricia (Jensen) Sorensen; husband, Donald Dean Spencer, Sr.; sister-in-law, Jane Sorensen.
Survivors include her daughters, Denise Ebbs and husband, Jim, Debbie Spencer; son, Donnie Spencer, Jr. and wife, Mandy; brothers, Terri, Jerry, Traci and Jim Sorensen; sister, Patty Wardlow; grandchildren, Chris McDaniel, Sarah Conn, Jessica Ebbs, Dominic Spencer, Devan Grilli, Steven McDaniel, Emma Spencer, Kristin Ebbs, Zach Spencer, Dylan Ebbs, Kayla Richter, Kyle Brown, Spencer Peterson; and numerous great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 28, 2023, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, with Pastor Joshua McDonald officiating.
Memorials in the form of donations may be made in Diana’s name to the ASPCA, Post Office Box 96929, Washington DC 20090-6929.
