Mr. Donald Dewey Eastep passed away at the age of 78 on May 16, 2025, in Texas City.
Born July 22, 1946, in Iola, Texas, Donald was a proud member of Carpenter Local 526. He spent many years honing his craft with Don’s Remodeling and Tree Service, where his strong work ethics and dedication earned the respect of coworkers and clients alike. Earlier in life, he worked as a truck driver, a role that suited his independent spirit and steady hand. Outside of work, Donald found joy in the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who cherished time spent in nature. He enjoyed time with family and Sunday barbeques. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Coy and Mary (Smith) Eastep; 7 brothers; 7 sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Toni Eastep; sons, Donald Ray Thomas and wife, Jesse of Santa Fe, Cary McDade and wife, Eva of Inola, OK, Donald Eastep, Jr, and wife, Kayce of Texas City; daughters, Donna Carter of Leakey, Toni Ankney and husband, Chris of Leakey, Amy Rodriguez and husband, Mariano of Texas City; 19 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, May 21, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., with a funeral service at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, Texas, with Mr. Johnney Whiteaker officiating.
Honorary bearers will be Donald Eastep, Jr., Donald Thomas, Cary McDade, Mariano Rodriguez, Casey Rodriguez and Amos Ydrogo.
Memorials in the form of donations may be made in Donald’s name to any charity of your choice or plant a tree in his memory.
