Dorothy Mae (Dyda) Griffith, 91, of Santa Fe, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2024, peacefully in the hospital. Dorothy was born on January 31, 1933, to John and Johnnie Mae Dyda of Alta Loma/Santa Fe.
Dorothy was a life-long resident of Alta Loma/Santa Fe and retired from General Telephone after many years of dedicated service. She was fondly called “Nanny” and enjoyed many hours with family and friends. She particularly liked finding treasures at garage sales, cooking favorite traditional family dishes like pierogi, and enjoying the excitement of winning at Bingo. She loved the time spent with her husband and family at the ranch in Gonzales, Texas. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, devoted husband, Charlie and brother, William Dyda.
She is survived by an extensive family including Luke Griffith, Tyler Griffith (Adrianna), Charles Pannell with Mavrik (Haven), Zachary Garcia (Shannon), Sable Garcia Walker (Ryan), Jimmy Dyda (Patti), Virginia Dyda, Billy Dyda (Sherlyn), Cindy Manuel (Ken), Laura Dyda, and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and friends.
Also remembered and appreciated as close family friends are Patricia Godkin and Peggy Curtis
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 4, 2024, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, with Pastor Josh McDonald officiating. Interment will follow at Alta Loma Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX (409) 925-3501.
