Frances Oxner Obituary

Frances Nell Oxner, age 99, passed from this life, Monday, January 22, 2024, with her daughter and granddaughters by her side. Frances was born October 5, 1924, in Hewitt, Texas. She was a resident of Santa Fe, Texas for 65 years and worked at hospitals in Texas City and Clear Lake from 1966 until her retirement. Frances was known for her talent in catering local weddings, cooking memorable family meals, and her energy and enthusiasm for uncovering garage sale and flea market finds. However, she was most affectionally known as “Grandma”, for her cherished love of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Frances was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harmon Oxner; brother, Max Renfro; sister, Winphra Schaeper; and parents, Lloyd and Zeffie Renfro. In memory of her husband’s teaching career, for ten years, Frances donated books to the elementary school where one of their grandchildren taught.

Frances leaves the living legacy of four generations, her daughter, Mary Lou Spencer and her husband, George of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Ricci Rodgers of League City, Becky Russell and her husband, Bryan of Santa Fe, Chris Knapp and his wife, Liz of Santa Fe, Holly Paladino and her husband, Joe of Alvin; numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, extended family and their children.

A graveside service will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, February 1, 2024, in the pavilion at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock, Texas. After the ceremonies, family and friends are invited for fellowship at the home of the Paladino Family in Alvin, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Chris Knapp, George Spencer, Bryan Russell, Joe Paladino, Danny Schaeper, and Sammy Schaeper.

In memory of her life, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Frances’ honor to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America or Alzheimer’s charity of your choice. If flowers are preferred, they may be sent in care of the Russell Family, 13533 Montgomery Rd, Santa Fe, Texas 77510.
