SANTA FE – George Richard “Dick” Pearson, a proud “Born on the Island” native, U.S. Air Force veteran, and dedicated member of his community, passed away at home on Monday, August 4, 2025, surrounded by his family at the age of 92.
Dick served his country honorably in the United States Air Force before returning home to build a meaningful life of work, service, and friendship. He was a longtime member of Pipefitters Local 211, a lifetime member of the NRA, an avid deer hunter and snow skier. He organized the monthly Ball High Alumni Luncheon (The Lunch Bunch). His passion for aviation and history led him to volunteer at the Lone Star Flight Museum, where he shared his knowledge and enthusiasm with visitors. In recognition of his dedication to supporting local community organizations, he was the proud recipient of the Veterans in Public Service Award from Operation Honor Our Local Veterans. He will be fondly remembered for his patriotism, generosity, and his love for the community he called home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dorothy (Mansker) Pearson; great-granddaughter, Aubrey Pearson; mother-in-law, Evelyn Morrison; stepfather, Charles McCain. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Beverly Pearson; daughter, Elizabeth Tibaldo and husband, Ricky of Santa Fe; sons, John Pearson of Abilene, Richie Pearson and wife, Tracy of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Krissy Tibaldo-Leija (Junior), Jonathan Tibaldo (Jaime), Kayla Tibaldo (Garvey), Macon Pearson (Hadley), Jonathan Pearson (Callie); great-grandchildren, Kamryn, Champ, David, Kai and Rilen.
Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 –2:00 p.m. with a funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 9, 2025, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, Texas, with Chaplain Chad Hawkins officiating. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren…who they affectionally referred to as PePaw.
