George Edward Sampson, Jr.

HITCHCOCK- Mr. George Edward Sampson, Jr. passed from this life Thursday, September 14, 2023, at his home in Hitchcock, Tx.

Mr. Sampson was born November 19, 1962, in Galveston, Texas to George Edward Sampson, Sr. and Florence Marie Reitmeyer Sampson. He was a lifelong resident of Hitchcock and a devoted member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. With a larger-than-life personality, he would often tell stories of his childhood. He loved playing softball, golf, and entertaining. He found his most joy being Popi to his three grandchildren, John “Konley”, Kassydi, and Indie. He will be truly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Mr. Sampson is preceded in death by his father, George Edward Sampson, Sr. and mother, Florence Marie Reitmeyer Sampson. He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Karla Sampson; step-sons, John Kody Reagan and wife, Natosha; Greg Peloquin of Baytown; brother, Gregory Sampson and wife, Lynn Sampson of Hitchcock; grandchildren, John Konley, Kassydi, and Indie Reagan of Hitchcock; niece, Dr. Catherine Sampson; nephew, Blake E. Sampson; cousins, Frances Sampson Baker and Milton George Sampson, III of Galveston, Kristin Lenox; Godson, Liam Henry Lenox.

A private service will be conducted at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in the form of donations may be made in George’s name to Santa Fe High School baseball program or Sisters Helping Sisters, www.shstexas.org or P.O. Box 9045, Bacliff, Tx 77518.
