Gilberto Jesus Gomez

Gilberto Jesus Gomez, aged 98, of League City, Texas, passed away on July 11, 2024, in Texas City, Texas.

Born April 18, 1926, in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico, he led a life full of service and adventure. A proud Army Veteran, Gilberto served from 1953 to 1955. He enjoyed a fulfilling career as a seaman, retiring in 1981.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Lucia Gomez; his beloved wife, Felipa Gomez.

Gilberto is survived by his son, Gilbert L. Gomez and wife, Gloria L. Gomez of League City, Texas. He was a devoted grandfather to Steven L. Cowen, Elissa M. Gomez-Negron and husband, Josué Negron, and Nina C. Gomez.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2024, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, with Deacon Michael Carr officiating.  Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5 - 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501, with a Vigil service beginning at 7:00 p.m.
