Glenda Jo (Ring) Cardwell

Mrs. Glenda Jo Cardwell passed from this life on February 23, 2025, at her home in Santa Fe, Texas surrounded by her family.

Glenda Jo Ring was born in Galveston, Texas on May 2, 1950 to Herbert C. and Rosalie F. Ring (Higgins). She was a lifelong resident of Arcadia and Alta Loma and was a 1968 graduate of Santa Fe High School. Shortly after graduation she married the love of her life, William Von Cardwell, Jr.  Glenda was a loving mother to Darla and Stacie as well as a loving NaNa to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Glenda worked as a beautician and was the owner of All About Hair salon in Santa Fe. After retiring, she was the Safety Director of Cardwell Consulting & Development. Glenda was known to jockey a horse, was an avid bowler, being a member of the Women’s International Bowling Association and had a green thumb nurturing her beautiful flower beds. In 2013, Glenda was diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer; however, and this was according to her oncologist, she was a miracle in that she went into remission a year later and was a survivor. Glenda enjoyed fishing, traveling around the country and cheering her grandchildren on in sports. Glenda was a proud American and loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Glenda is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, William; daughters, Darla Mensik and husband, Travis; Stacie Verm and husband, Greg; grandchildren, Travis Cardwell and wife, Mallory, Gregory Verm and wife, Hunter; Kylie Gomez and husband, Aidan, Sophie Mensik; great-grandchildren, Aubree Hallett, Macie Cardwell, Olivia Cardwell, Dawson Gomez as well as two great-grand daughters due to join the family in a few short months; loving sisters, Gayle Crump, Gerri Guyton; brother, Herb Ring; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 27, 2025, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, with Pastor Tim Gregory officiating.  Interment will follow at Alta Loma Cemetery. A reception will follow the interment at Santa Fe Family Worship Center, 13601 FM-1764; Santa Fe, TX 77510.

Pallbearers are Travis Cardwell, Gregory Verm, John Dickerson, Aidan Gomez, Bob Oppermann, and Billy Steele. Honorary pallbearers are Shane Bilbrey, Wayne Phillips and Zachary Bilbrey.

Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX (409) 925-3501. 

The family would like to thank Marie Tigg and Laura LaBry for their love and care shown to Glenda in the last weeks of her life here on earth.
