Grace Marie (Retano) Milligan

SANTA FE – Mrs. Grace Marie Cumby Milligan, age 86, went to be with her Lord on December 28, 2024, after struggling with dementia for several years.

She was born September 29, 1938, in Galveston to Alford and Santa Retano. She was a devoted Catholic and a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Hitchcock.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy Cumby; son, Larry Cumby; stepson, Stan Milligan, Jr.; and grandson, Lynnie Inocencio.

She is survived by her husband, Stan Milligan; daughter, Carol Gaylord (Nick); son, Robert Cumby; stepchildren Teresa Springer (Richard), Steven Milligan (Angel) daughter-in-law, Milissa Cumby; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 3, 2025, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, with Reverend Amy Peters officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Robert Blanchard, Daniel Cumby, Steven Milligan, Bubba Russo, Dade Springer and Richard Springer.

Visitation will be held from 5 - 7 p.m. Thursday at Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501, with a Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. recited by Mr. Don LeCompte.
