Hallie Barret Ketchum

TEXAS CITY - Mrs. Hallie Barret Ketchum passed from this life Wednesday morning, November 16, 2022, in Texas City.

Born June 6, 1929, in San Antonio, Texas, Mrs. Ketchum had been a resident of Texas City since 1954. Hallie worked as a schoolteacher, teaching 2nd grade at Heights Elementary for 21 years. She attended First Baptist Church in Texas City and was a member of the Texas City Civic Club and the Friends of the Library.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward William and Julia (Barret) Schmidt; son, Thomas Barret Ketchum.

Survivors include her loving husband of 73 years, James A. Ketchum; sons, Richard Allen Ketchum and wife, Susan of Texas City, Paul Lewis Ketchum and wife, Anna of League City; daughter-in-law, Tanya Ketchum of Texas City; 5 grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.

A private cremation was conducted under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX (409) 925-3501.
