SEABROOK - Harold Karl Goebel, 75, of Seabrook, Texas passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. at UTMB Clear Lake after a long and fulfilling life.
Harold was born on January 16, 1949, in Geissen, Germany to Mary Ann Greis-Williams. At a young age he immigrated to the United States and made Texas his home. He graduated from Ball High School in 1968. After this time, he joined the United States Air Force and married Barbara Gale Adams. They were married for 23 years and had three children, Stephanie, John David, and Karyn. They settled and lived in Hitchcock, Texas for over 20 years where he coached little league football and baseball. One of his greatest loves other than his family was sports including being an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He and his family attended St. John’s Lutheran Church in Galveston and then Peace Lutheran Church in Texas City for many years.
After becoming widowed in 1992 he married Theresa Stanfield. At this time he gained two stepchildren, Adam and Kelle Wills. During this time he was able to continue his passion for sports and taught school and coached at Hitchcock Independent School District, Waco Independent School District, and Danbury Independent School District. While coaching at Danbury ISD he had some of his greatest accomplishments with the state championships with the teams there. After he retired he relocated to Mount Sterling, Kentucky where he continued to volunteer at the local school continuing his passion for coaching. Most recently he relocated back to Texas and enjoyed spending time with close friends and family.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ann Williams and his first, wife Barbara Gale Goebel.
He is survived by his children, Stephanie Noel & Charles W. Jones III, John David & Kelly Goebel, and Karyn Goebel; wife of 29 years, Theresa Goebel; step children, Adam & Tabitha Wills, Kelle & Jason Conlon; sister, Elka Kaura; brother, Bobby Joe Williams; 24 grandchildren and spouses, Christian & Emilee McGhee, Cameron & Emily McGhee, Cearstyn & Austin Flippen, Kayleigh Conlon, Melody Jones, Madison Jones, Isabelle Conlon, Justin Jones, Madison Lynch, Mason Wills, Kody Goebel, Tyler Conlon, Gabriel Lynch, Taylor Lee Goebel, Haedyn Lynch, Caidyn Jones, Gracelynn Wills, Cullen Wills, Danica Goebel, Carringtyn Jones, and Molly Conlon; 12 great -grandchildren, Rylee McGhee, Mayzie Conlon, Lane McGhee, Zander McGhee, Leo Korseska, Raelynn Conlon, Kade McGhee, Addley Hall, Ivy McGhee, Gracee McGhee, Malcolm Korseska, and Annabeth Flippen Harold has had numerous life-long friends and countless students, players and families that called him family.
A special thank you to the staff at UTMB Clear Lake and Friendship Haven Rehabilitation Facility in Friendswood, TX that made his last days fulfilling and caring.
Visitation with the family will be from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. with a memorial service beginning at 5:00 p.m. Friday, September 13, 2024, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX (409) 925-3501. He will be buried alongside his wife Barbara Gale Goebel at Galveston Memorial Cemetery in Hitchcock, TX.
