SANTA FE – Mr. Henry Louis Claussen, Jr., passed away at the age of 87 on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, in Santa Fe.
Born February 26, 1938, in Galveston, Mr. Claussen was a resident of Santa Fe for most of his life, previously of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy, carrying the values of honor, discipline, and commitment with him throughout his life. Following his military service, he built a remarkable 50-year career as an electrical engineer. Beyond his career, he found joy in the outdoors—whether hunting in quiet fields, tending lovingly to his flower garden, or adding to his treasured coin collection. A dedicated and hardworking man, he leaves behind a legacy of service, commitment, and simple pleasures well lived.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Katherine (Knapp) Claussen, Sr.; wife, Betty Margaret Davidson Claussen; brother, Robert Claussen; great-grandchildren, Riley Garcia and Colton Claussen.
Survivors include his sons, Darryl Claussen and wife, Beverly of Santa Fe, Don Claussen and wife, Melodie of Nebraska, Dan Claussen and wife, DeeDee of Lampasas, David Claussen of Lampasas; daughter, Kathy Hamilton and John Torres of Lampasas; sister, Karen Lee and husband, Jim of Canyon Lake; brother-in-law, Mark Johnston of Santa Fe; sisters-in-law, Linda Davidson of Santa Fe, Karen Davidson of Houston; grandchildren, Crystal Gordon and Scott, Donald Claussen, Jr., and Pam, Brandi Claussen, Jerry Claussen and Paula, Amber Claussen and Ellen, Darryl Claussen, Jr. and Shannon, Ty Claussen and Iris, Dani Claussen; great-grandchildren, Jade Gordon and Lexi, Jax Gordon and Kacie, Taylor Claussen, Caitlin Claussen, Ashtin Claussen, Calan Braunsdorf, Simon Claussen, Canyon Claussen, Owllyn Claussen, Cadence Claussen; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2026, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, with Pastor Jake Bigford officiating. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Scott Gordon, Jax Gordon, Dan Claussen, Ty Claussen, Darryl Claussen and John Torres, III. Honorary bearers will be David Claussen and Don Claussen.
Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2026, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX (409) 925-3501.
