SANTA FE - Huey Paul Parkman, age 86, of Santa Fe, Texas, passed away the morning of October 18, 2022, at a Webster medical facility. He was born July 16, 1936, in Ruston, Louisiana, to Leon Parkman and Grace Ellis. Huey eloped with his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Barbara Hultquist, on September 1, 1956, in Texarkana, Texas. They were blessed with 66 years together. Huey was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved fishing, skiing and traveling with his family.

Huey graduated from Lamar High School in Houston before going to the University of Houston, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering. He was president and owner of Parkman Engineering Company, where he spent the majority of his career designing heat exchangers. After he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2002, Huey felt it unsafe to continue this work, so he started acquiring rental properties which provided another method to keep him active working on projects he enjoyed.

He was a doting father and grandfather, never missing his sons’ sporting events and supporting his grandchildren in all their endeavors. He also loved to travel with his family and planned annual vacations so they could experience new places together. Most recently, Huey and Barbara took their family on a Mediterranean cruise to celebrate their 60th anniversary.

With endless and patient support from his family, Huey battled Parkinson’s Disease for 20 years. He worked hard every day to take on life’s challenges even as his mobility declined. Huey never let his disease stop him from doing something he wanted to do. He never stopped fighting.

Huey is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Hultquist Parkman; by his sons, William Parkman and wife, Patricia, and Ronald Parkman and wife, Carolina; by his grandchildren, Kristin, Sara and Ryan who affectionately called him Daddy Park; and by his siblings, William Ellis, Jr., Judith Kenz, David Parkman, Richard Parkman and Robert Parkman.

Huey is preceded in death by his parents, Leon Parkman and Grace Ellis; his step parents, Hazel Parkman and William Ellis.

A service will be held Thursday, October 27, 2022, at 10 a.m. at Hayes Funeral Home in Santa Fe, Texas. The address is 10412 Highway 6, Santa Fe, TX 77510.
