James Donald Swank

SANTA FE-Mr. James Donald Swank passed from this life Wednesday morning, June 30, 2021, in Houston.

Born February 6, 1941, in Houston, to James and Julia (Kresta) Swank, James spent the early years of his life being outdoors, playing football and being active in the Boy Scouts of America. He graduated from Jeff Davis High School in 1959 and then entered Texas A&M, graduating in 1963. After college James joined the United States Air Force, serving from1963 -1983, retiring as a Major after 20 years. After retiring he worked as an auditor, he was a member of the City of Alvin Senior Center, where he played dominoes and spent time with friends, attended Salt Grass Church and was a member of the singles group at Webster Presbyterian.

James enjoyed going on road trips with his family and loved ones. He also enjoyed camping, studying history, playing dominoes and fishing. He especially took pride in his grandkids, and the many trips and adventures they had. He taught Zach, Kodi and Jacob how to be patient, understanding and how to have great work ethic and was always very supportive in their studies and sports activities. He will be missed greatly.

He was preceded in death by his parents.  Survivors include his daughters, Kerry Swank-Sabayrac, Kyle Swank; son, Bryce Ewing; grandchildren, Zach and Kodi Swank, Jacob Sabayrac, Mahina and Maverick Ewing; loving partner, Lois Adams.

Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Thursday, July 15, 2021, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, (409) 925-3501, with Pastor Josh McDonald officiating.  Interment will follow at Houston National Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Zachary Swank, Kodi Swank, Jacob Sabayrac, Barry Sabayrac, Rick Payne and Johnny Adams.
