Jarl William Molander

Jarl William Molander was born July 21, 1950, outside the United States in the District of Columbia. He is the only son of Jarl and Glenna Jean Molander. He has two sisters, Patty and Chris, of North Carolina. He graduated from W.T. Woodson HS and attended Wingate College and graduated from North Carolina State University in 1975 with a BSCE degree.

While visiting his best friend from high school at Appalachian State University on a weekend in 1971, he met his future wife Christine (Chris) Ann Horky on a blind date. They were married on August 4, 1973, in Charlotte. They raised eight wonderful children, Matt, Bryan, Todd, Jenny, Emily, Joe, Mark, and Samantha.

Jarl used his Engineering degree and worked on a variety of civil engineering projects in North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas, and many other places. He had a fulfilling and enjoyable career; however, he felt his career kept him from having more time with his family and he regretted that.

Jarl had a wonderful life and was blessed he could spend it with the one person who made it worthwhile, his wife Chris. They were married for over 50 years, which always seemed like a goal for Chris which they realized in 2023. Jarl had many friends in his life which he valued in different ways, and he outlived almost all of them for some odd reason.

Jarl was preceded in death by his parents, Jarl and Glenna Jean. Jarl is survived by his wife, Chris; their eight children, Matthew, Bryan, Todd, Jenny, Emily, Joseph, Mark, and Samantha; their twenty-one grandchildren, Grant, Avery, Kara, Gabriel, Reid, Devin, Caleb, Bekah, Emery, Addie, Karoline, Charlotte, Spencer, Brody, Trudy, Lincoln, Elaina, Lucas, Dean, Everly, and Jasen; and their great-grandchild, Aurora.

Jarl was a blessing to his family as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, and brother. He always put God and family first.
