SANTA FE – Mr. Jerrel Edward David, Sr. passed away at the age of 80 on December 8, 2024, in Santa Fe.
Born May 8, 1944, in Santa Fe, TX, Mr. David had been a lifelong resident of Santa Fe. Jerrel worked as a carpenter and was a member of the Carpenters Union #973 for 35 years and later worked as a currier for Texas First Bank. He was member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #3789 and the Jaycee’s, served as a Boy Scout leader and enjoyed hunting, fishing and BBQ cook-offs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Thelma (Casper) David; son, Jerrel Edward David, Jr. and sister, Evelyn Harrelson.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Kate David; daughter, Theresa Davis and husband, John; daughter-in-law, Lisa Diane David; brothers, Fred David and wife, Julene, Melvin David and wife, Pat; grandchildren, Shelby and Connor DuColon, Laura Davis, Jamie and Mat Risteen.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 13, 2024, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX (409) 925-3501, with Pastor Les Boldt officiating. Interment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Melvin David, Jr., Raymond David, Dick Hadley, Fred Nelson, Callen Ray and Rusty Rothermel.
Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
