Joyce Arlene (Ziegenfus) Cassidy

DICKINSON - Ms. Joyce Arlene (Ziegenfus) Cassidy passed from this life Sunday morning, March 10, 2024, in Clear Lake.

Born July 11, 1940, in Coaldale, PA, Mrs. Cassidy had been a longtime resident of Galveston County. She proudly served her country in the U.S. Air Force and attended College of the Mainland in 1975 where she earned her associate degree. Joyce worked in customer service at Randall’s for over 30 years. She enjoyed going to veteran services and events, collecting figurines of eagles and birds, shopping, bird and deer watching and watching John Wayne movies.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Dorothy (Walch) Ziegenfus; sister, Joan Frey; grandson, John Wood, II.

Survivors include her sons, Carl Johnson and wife, Debra, Richard Johnson and wife, Marilyn, Mark Johnson and wife, DeeDee; daughters, Sharon Johnson, Patricia Brookshire and husband, Steve, Arlene Johnson, Kathrine Wood, Joyce Bristow and husband, Michael; brothers, James Ziegenfus and partner, Patty; sisters, Betty Frey and husband , Marlin, Faye Wetzel and husband, Bill, Bonnie Wieder and husband, Tom; 16 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family. 

Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery, with Pastor Price Eaton officiating.

Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Monday at the Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX (409) 925-3501.
