Kimsey “Joe” Pitts
ALVIN - Mr. Kimsey Eugene “Joe” Pitts passed from this life Thursday morning, March 18, 2021, in Texas City.
Born April 6, 1923 in Wichita Falls, Texas, Mr. Pitts proudly served his country in the United States Navy and had worked as a crane operator for many years. He was a member of the VFW, the Masonic Lodge, and International Union of Operating Engineers. Joe enjoyed flying planes, playing dominoes and going to casinos.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Kimsey and Vivian Fay (Ballard) Pitts; wife, Hazel E. Pitts; son, Kimsey Edward Pitts; daughter, Joann Pitts; brother, Travis Pitts and a sister, Dorothy Mummert.
Survivors include his brothers, Don Pitts and wife, Linda, John Pitts, Charles Pitts and wife, Shirley all of Wichita Falls, Alva Ray Pitts and wife, Connnie of Bridgeport; sisters, Reba Nell of Norman, Oklahoma, Judy Menasco and husband, Josh of Hugo, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Kimsey Edward Pitts, Jr. and wife, Ester of Germany, Brian Kimsey Pitts and wife, Renee; several step-children; 26 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 22, 2021, at Hayes Grace Memorial Park Cemetery, with Pastor Lee Peoples officiating.
