Lance Barton

SANTA FE - Mr. Lance Barton passed from this life Thursday afternoon, October 22, 2020, in Santa Fe.

Lance was born on February 3, 1962 in Kingsville to Richard and Betty (Gillespie) Barton. He earned his master’s degree in computer science and worked as a software engineer for several companies including NASA. Lance was a gifted software programmer, so he took his skills to the classroom where he became an adjunct professor at College of the Mainland for 23 years. A father to 4 boys, Lance loved being involved in his children’s lives. He coached their little league basketball and they took numerous trips to Enchanted Rock together. Lance was a husband, father, son, teacher and much more but we were truly blessed to have had him in our lives.

Survivors include his loving wife of 33 years, Johnna Barton;  parents, Rick and Betty Barton; sons, Tim Barton and wife, Claire, Seth Barton, Ben Barton and Chris Barton; brother, Craig Barton; sisters, Sheryl Fuller and husband, Rick, Cynthia Czinder and husband, Jerry; grandchildren, Callie Elizabeth Barton, Alyssa Michelle Barton, Chris Donaldson; numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held 3:00 p.m. Thursday, October 29, 2020, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, with Pastor Tim Franklin officiating.
