Lanny Ray Riggs

Lanny Ray Riggs passed away at the age of 66 on March 11, 2026, surrounded by family.

Lanny was born on December 31, 1959, in Pasadena, TX. He met Debbie (Smith) while attending high school, but it wasn’t until his early 20’s that they officially tied the knot. He worked the same job, with just different company names for 43 years, supervising pipeline flow and everything else in between. Lanny and Debbie have been members of Midway Church of Christ for over 20 years, enjoying all the simple pleasures in life that God blessed him with. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially taking his grandbabies to the beach. He was a loyal, faithful, and hardworking man, full of personality and deeply devoted to his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Sue (Thomasson) Riggs.

Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Debbie Riggs; sons, Kyle Riggs and wife, Kimberly, Cory Riggs; daughter, Kayla Ewald and husband, Ryan; brothers, Danny Riggs and wife, Liz, Sammy Riggs and wife, Teri; aunt, Marilyn Hambrick, who was like a 2nd mother to him; special cousins, Ronnie Gray and wife, Denise (who just happens to be Debbie’s sister), Gwenda Moser; and grandchildren that he adored, Jackson, Jace, Ava, Jake and Grayson.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2026, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, with Mr. Russell McLaughlin officiating.  Interment will be at Hayes Grace Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Riggs, Cory Riggs, Ryan Ewald, Ronnie Gray, Chris Chandler, and Ambrose Francisco.

Honorary bearers will be Danny Riggs and Sammy Riggs.

Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, TX (409) 925-3501.
