Lily Mae (Utley) Grace

SANTA FE – Mrs. Lily Mae Grace passed away at the age of 86 on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, in Santa Fe.

Born November 16, 1938, in Galveston, TX, Mrs. Grace was a lifelong resident of Galveston County. Lily was a talented musician and songwriter and had a deep passion for music. Beyond music, she found joy in the outdoors, especially horseback riding, fishing, boating, and water skiing. She had a love for adventure and never turned down the chance to spend time on the water or in nature.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Ester (Nebout) Utley; granddaughter, Angela Dawn Grace; brothers, Carl Wayne Utley, Sr. and Richard Paul Utley.

Survivors include her sons, David Grace and wife, Karen Bates of Galveston and George and Kathy Grace of Santa Fe; sister, Ruby Kesinger Jensen and husband, Terry of Round Rock; grandchildren, George “Trey” Grace, III, Destiny Kay Grace, Trevor Grace, David Lee Grace, Jr.; numerous great-grandchildren.

Memorials in the form of donations may be made in Lily’s name to Habitat for Horses, Post Office Box 213, Hitchcock, Texas 77563.

Lily’s wishes were to be cremated, and her family will hold a celebration of life at a later date.
