SANTA FE – Dr. Louis Adrian Sordahl passed away at the age of 88 on Monday, December 16, 2024, in Webster.
Louis was born on August 24, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois. He worked hard at school and went on to earn his PhD from Rutgers in Newark. After graduating, he began working for NIH in Washington. He relocated to Houston where he worked at Baylor university until taking a job at UTMB where he retired from as a professor in cardiology research. Louis retired in 1998, but unlike most, he loved the retired life. He married Betty (Susil) in 1999 and together they had many wonderful experiences – from traveling across the country, going on cruises to visiting wine country and trying new foods. Louis was an avid sportsman who enjoyed waterfowl hunting. He loved training his hunting labs and spending time with them out in the field and at home. Louis was an excellent model railroader who dedicated an entire room to his hobby. It was remarkable to see the details in his work. Louis, and all he did, will live in our hearts forever.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis O. and Margaret (Froiland) Sordahl.
Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Betty Sordahl; son, Michael Sordahl; daughter, Nancy Necklace; stepsons, Christopher Jackson, Stuart Jackson and wife, Kellye; brother, Robert Sordahl and wife, Vicky; grandchildren, Killian Jackson, Josephine Jackson and numerous other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; fur baby, Roxie.
A memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 16, 2025, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home, 10412 Highway 6, Hitchcock, Texas.
