Lupe Castillo Obituary

Lupe Castillo

SANTA FE – Mrs. Lupe Castillo passed from this life Tuesday evening, December 29, 2020, in Webster.

Lupe was born November 12, 1943 in Alta Loma to Luciano and Claudia (Liquez) Perez. One of eleven siblings, Lupe learned from her parents to share your blessings with others, which also led her to  take in anyone who was in need of a place to stay. Lupe was known for her tamales, empanadas and chicken mole. Lupe met Jesse Castillo and in 1958 they married. Together they shared a loving home and had five children. She was known to many as “Mama Lupe” or “Grandma” because of her kind and generous personality. Lupe had a natural maternal instinct and loved children. She worked in childcare for 30 years, most of them at Brazoria County Day Care then at College of the Mainland Lab School. She was a life long member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and had an unwavering faith in God. She enjoyed staying active in the church especially in the Guadalupanas and A.C.T.S. Lupe was  a former member of the Arcadia Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary where she helped put together social fund raising events. She loved dancing and going to the county fair cook offs, especially if Jerry Hart was playing. Lupe loved her T.V. soap operas and especially game nights with her grandchildren. Lupe had the amazing ability to make you feel loved and welcomed. She could always find the good in people because she herself had goodness in her heart. She will be deeply missed but always loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jesse V. Castillo; son, Dana Castillo; brother, Ernest Perez; nephew, Ruben Ybarra.
